Roles and Responsibilities of the GER

Recommend to the Minister persons who are considered suitably qualified to be licensed by the Minister as electrical inspectors;
Recommend to the Minister the suspension or revocation of the licence of an electrical inspector in instances where it is considered appropriate;
Investigate and seek to resolve complaints by members of the public about the work or conduct of licensed electrical inspectors;
Establish rate classes among licensed electrical inspectors based on their qualification, skill and experience;
Establish and maintain a register of registered electrical inspectors, each of whom shall be assigned to a rate class;
Monitor the quality of work being performed by electrical inspectors by conducting reviews on a random basis;
Appoint the Committee of Examiners.
