This registration permits the electrician to carry out electrical work or modification, or to supervise electrical work or modification designed to operate at all power levels and all voltage levels, single phase or three phase.
Pre-qualification
A Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized training institution approved by an accreditation body.
At least fifteen years’ practical experience in electrical work evidenced by a voluntary declaration of an electrician or inspector with whom the applicant has worked.
CATEGORY 2
This registration permits the electrician to carry out electrical work or modification, or to supervise electrical work or modification designed to operate at voltage not exceeding 1 kV single phase and three phase and a maximum power of 500 KVA.
Pre-qualification
A Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized training institution approved by an accreditation body.
At least five years’ practical experience in electrical installation works, evidenced by a voluntary declaration of an electrician or inspector with whom the applicant has worked.
Successful completion of the Category 1 Electrical Technician Licensing Examination.
CATEGORY 3
This registration permits the electrician to carry out electrical work or modification, or to supervise electrical work or modification designed to operate at voltage not exceeding 250 Volts single phase only and a maximum power of 150 kVA.
Pre-qualification
Successful completion of the HEART Trust/NTA Level 3 or any other equivalent qualifications.
At least five years’ practical experience in electrical installation works, evidenced by a voluntary declaration of an electrician or inspector with whom the applicant has worked.
Successful completion of the Category II Electrical Licensing Examination.
